Managing Director This is a great opportunity to join an established and growing business as the MD, working closely with the CEO. My client provides high quality service to Registered Social Landlords and Local Authorities, there are three divisions within the group. They are proud to have their values and commitment to quality, safety and the environment, recognised with their accreditations to CHAS, Constructionline, ISO9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS The Role: The Managing Director will be responsible for driving the business into a period of new growth and opportunity. Reporting to the CEO, the Managing Director will deliver against agreed KPI’s, targets and objectives for the company and is responsible for:

  • building and maintaining a high performing management team.

  • Responsibilities include,three direct reports (two divisional managers and part-time accounts) with a total of 70 staff members overall. Key Responsibilities: • Provide effective leadership and direction for the management team and oversee the day to day running of the business. • Responsible for creating and maintaining an effective team culture, including through periods of change and to build and maintain a strong team ethos. • Identify and prioritise bid opportunities with the CEO. • Be able to contribute to effective bid writing, resulting in successful business. • Ensure the Company’s financial and service delivery goals are met through effective planning, organisation and use of key resources. • Monitor and adhere to compliance and associated practices to ensure legislation is followed in a fit and safe manner. • Accountable for all aspects of the business operational performance, service management, productivity and people related measures. • To deliver a programme of ongoing process efficiency and productivity. • To set and monitor objectives and performance targets for the team. • Manage P & L, budgets and report to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis. • Develop and monitor key business metrics to ensure targets are met. • Provide leadership and vision to the organisation by assisting the Board and staff with the development of short and long term plans. • Recruitment of staff as required and identification of staff development training. • Annual appraisals for staff using SMART objectives. • Review and update company policy documentation. Ideal Person:

You will have strong leadership attributes coupled with demonstrable management and people skills that have been used in senior management roles in a soft services multi-site environment. Previous experience at an operational level is highly desirable. The Managing Director will be a relationship builder of the highest calibre, both with suppliers, customers and internal teams and will have proven negotiation, presentation and communication skills utilised to Board level.

  • Essential Skills 1. Educated to degree level. 2. A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role. 3. Experience in the provision of soft services. 4. A minimum of 3 years proven success in managing high performing teams. 5. Previous experience in an operations led environment. 6. Working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and HR legislation. 7. Excellent and proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. 8. Experience in contributing towards successful bid writing. 9. Strong problem solving skills together with reasoned decision making. 10. Excellent people management skills. 11. Experience in keeping the team focussed and accountable day to day. 12. Ability to work productively and effectively and have the initiative and drive to perform under tight timescales and pressure. 13. Have strategic vision capability and foresight to drive the company’s plans 14. Ability to make accurate and appropriate decisions and be a quick learner. 15. Experience in managing quality systems accredited with ISO 9001. Desirable Skills 1. Further management studies (e.g. Leadership and Management). 2. IOSH qualification. 3. Experience working within social housing sector. 4. Track record of overseeing small business growth. 5. Knowledge of horticulture, commercial cleaning and building trades.

Remuneration: Negotiable annual salary circa 55 - 65k 26 days holiday plus Bank holidays, private healthcare, Company car allowance, Pension allowance.
