Business Development Executive
My client is looking for an ambitious and driven Business Development Executive to join an established and successful team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional who enjoys building relationships, identifying new opportunities and turning prospects into long-term clients.
You will play a key role in developing new business opportunities, building a strong prospect pipeline and engaging with decision-makers across a range of commercial sectors. The role involves a significant amount of time meeting potential clients, attending networking events and developing relationships within the local business community.
You will work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure opportunities are progressed effectively and that prospective clients receive a first-class experience throughout the sales journey.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver an effective plan for identifying, targeting and converting new business opportunities into long-term client relationships.
Build, maintain and actively manage a pipeline of prospective businesses, identifying opportunities within targeted industry sectors.
Develop relationships with business owners and senior decision-makers, arranging meetings and presentations to understand their requirements and identify opportunities.
Research and implement effective communication strategies across email, telephone, social media, face-to-face meetings, networking and events.
Represent the business professionally at trade events, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
Build strong relationships with prospective clients and manage opportunities through to the appropriate stage of the sales process.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure opportunities are progressed and converted successfully.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and prospect information within CRM systems.
Deliver consistently high standards of customer service, ensuring expectations are met and, wherever possible, exceeded.
Develop positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, key contacts, external partners and suppliers.
Support ad-hoc projects and wider business initiatives designed to support growth and enhance the customer experience.
Ideal Candidate
My client is looking for someone who is commercially aware, target-driven and confident building relationships with business decision-makers.
You will ideally have:
A proven track record in a targeted business development or sales environment.
Experience developing business plans and contact strategies.
A good understanding of commercial businesses and how organisations operate.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office, CRM systems and social media platforms.
Good numerical and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to manage your own workload effectively and work well under pressure.
A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships through honesty, integrity and positive behaviours.
A commitment to continuous improvement and the confidence to use your own initiative.
A genuine desire to succeed, develop professionally and learn new skills.
Full Training Provided
Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career.
Training may involve additional travel and occasional overnight stays to attend courses.
The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.
The role involves time away from the office meeting prospective clients, attending networking opportunities and representing the business at events.
The position is based across Kent and Sussex, with some home-based working.
