My client are a leading web-based service offering evaluations and comments on biomedical research literature from professionals in the field. They currently have a vacancy for a Web Production Developer. The position will be based in their central London office.
The role of Web Production Developer involves producing web pages, mock-ups, wireframes etc in collaboration with their in-house development teams, web designer and business managers. The successful candidate will be working on the website as well as the evaluations database and publications.
Key responsibilities:
• Design and build new website content
• Develop XHTML and CSS with consideration of browser capabilities, page size and design integrity, in accordance with W3C standards and in-house guidelines
• Work with 3rd party designs to create XHTML templates
• Produce and optimize images for website use
• Contribute to the production of specifications and HTML prototypes and harnesses
• Perform testing on web projects where necessary
• Be alert to usability improvements during specification and testing phases
The candidate will have:
• Excellent XHTML/DHTML/CSS and JavaScript skills
• Excellent image manipulation and design skills, possessing excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to write clean and accurate code and deliver updates as required
• Methodical working style and an ability to follow documented processes and procedures
• Good communication skills
• Good awareness of usability issues
• Ability to map project requirements and specifications to mock-ups
• Experience of Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator and FireWorks
• Ability to work with server-side scripting languages, XML, XSL and templating languages, such as Velocity, would be an advantage
